VÆL footwear is designed for men who desire to be seen as iconoclasts. They are not satisfied with the current offerings from CLAE or Creative Rec. They have an understanding of VISVIM and Dior-Homme, but refuse to pay $500 for a pair of sneakers.
They want subtle style cues, while letting the quality of the details in the shoes speak for them. The US-Hide full-grain leathers, the Italian Vibram Soles and European lasts are what set VÆL apart from the current offerings from most of the noise that is coming out of China footwear factories.
VÆL Project is culmination of the vision of the founder and owner, Coleman Horn. After selling his previous brand, M3dium, Coleman began a worldwide search for new inspiration to truly capitalize on the spirit of M3dium. However, this time it was going to be different - All of the difficult lessons that Coleman learned through starting, building, and selling M3dium would be infused with a fresh design doctrine that creatively evolves classic silhouettes. began to take shape in November 2007 with the official launch of the brand during the PROJECT trade shows that following January .

- Thom McElroy The founder of Volcom & McEroy Communications
- Mossmo Giannulli The founder of his namesake brand, Mossimo
- Robert Beauchamp Former Executive Editor of GQ and Executive Fashion Director for Esquire Magazine
