I was talking to Tilt last night, and as always he taught me a lot of things. About Graffiti, concepts, the old school and the new school.. art. How you yourself has to push things forward. There is one prevalent topic though that we really agreed upon and laughed about.
For all those internet bombers.
Instead of saying that , what you're really saying is this.

I just found this funny and applicable to the graffiti scene here now. There are two ways to look at this, it's either change your perspective on what you're really doing, or do things the harder way.

Cafe Ysabel

Whenever you get to pass by around Wilson Street at Greenhills San Juan, you might want to go on a little treasure hunting for one of San Juans best kept secrets. Well, for me..It wasn't more of a secret but more of a mystery. Like an old abandoned structure you'd see around Intramuros. I would always pass by this place and wonder what was in this beautifully preserved home. Ignorant as I was at those moments, I realized that it was a cafe (as did the sign say so don't judge me) and that it had been there for more than 25 years only after my friend told me that I had to go and try this place.

And so we did... I stepped down from my vehicle, glanced at this beautiful structure and i prepared myself for an experience. I must tell you that it was an experience to dine in it's well maintained 1927 ancestral home over looking a well maintained garden filled with trees. Where else can you eat like that here in the city? A city with barely no more greenery left. It literally felt like I was eating in my great grand - mother's home in some province. And whilst i was consuming my meal with a serving amount that was just right for the 250 bones, I was thinking... "Man, maybe the Illustrados used to wine and dine here."

The food is awesome and affordable , making you spend a little over 250 php. I must say, the city needs more places like this. Places where you can say that it's not hard to live in a city. It's not hard, when, in this city... you're in places like this

Connecting Dots

Jam Session 2.0 from Cain Mosni on Vimeo.

Common ground between people is not always easily found. Yes there may be a civil greeting here and there, but the connection, the real connection remains to be stuck in captivity between what is a hello and what's after a hello. All information that would travel through your neurons to your synapses to how you would interact with a certain person all gets decided in less than a second...almost as fast as that word... hello.

And how you would connect would be entirely up to you. Reality is, it's our responsibility to decide how it's suppose to be with someone. It's either you would want to or not. But between two people there are always some things that are bigger than both of them...compared to our physical minuscule matter when compared to the galaxy , there are some things that are just universal. There will always be a pleateu / a plane where minds will meet. And these planes are what connects people. One of the examples of this would be music.

8 people with 5 instruments from 4 Continents speaking 3 languages for 1 song.

Inspired by Handsome Boy Modeling School's "The Truth"

Dumbfounded, a Korean Emcee based in L.A. flips it with other artists oveseas.

Connecting minds with new media. Beautiful.

HIP HOP LOVE.

Erykah Badu feat. Common - Love Of My Life

It's always good to have to worlds collide. When two worlds collide, there is introduction to new things, new ideas, ideals, and morals. When two worlds collide there is also uncertainty and chaos usually resulting in change. For the better or for the worse when two worlds collide, enlightenment is sure to arise. Especially if those two worlds, or in this case, minds are open enough to learn from each other. In talk @ playground super producer Pharrell Williams and art phenom KAWS talk about what keeps them doing what they do and they talk about how each personally thinks about the criticism on each of them as they chase their dreams.

KAWS:
KAWS started out as a grafitti artist. After moving to New York in the 90’s, he made his mark (literally) by subverting imagery on billboards, bus shelters and phone booths. As KAWS’ popularity skyrocketed, his altered ads became wanted items.

PHARRELL WILLIAMS:
Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter/producer Pharrell Williams has made history as one of the most successful and prolific entertainers to emerge during the last decade.

NEVER MIND THE BOLLOCKS, HERE COMES THE VANDALS

On January 23

This time it's going to be AEON , PEEK and REST!

I'm liking the flip on the iconic Sex Pistols album for Rest's tee.

And it would also be interesting to see Peek's giant getting it's walk on, on your chest.

IF YOU WERE'NT INTO ME YOU'D PROBABLY DATE THESE SHOES

"Native to San Paulo, Brazil, shoe-lady Andreia Chaves derives inspiration from the chaos and structure of her hometown, and visual puns from the likes of Maison Martin Margiela, Rei Kawakubo, Yohji Yamamoto, and Issey Miyake."

Chaos and structure, two things that when combined together can be a walking contradiction. In the case of Andreia Chaves' collection, it is a literal adaptation of those ideals. And thought it is a contradiction it is a beautiful irony that has been applied into design.

I am not one to comment and and be highly critical about shoes, and especially ladies' footwear because i am no expert...But when something catches my eye I appreciate. Plus I have a shoe fetish. And for every lady that loves shoes I reckon these are must sees and feel under your soles and hopefully wrapped around your feet.

OH...and speaking of hot shoes for women, let me add this one as well...

Jeffrey Campbell "Tick" Peep Toe Wedge.

One word would definitely best describe these shoes.
As Ms. DC would say, "Fierce...."

RED I BEAT TAPES

RED I BEAT TAPES FROM THE FREEZER
Click here to download Volume 1 and click here for Volume 2 for free

The beats in both mixtapes are old beats created by DJ Red I himself. Mixed and served with a quality selection of songs. He made them back in 2004 and only released them now. Listen to how it all still seems so fresh straight out of the freezer.

Volume 1 is an all original 30 minute mix from early productions from 2004 to 2009
I personally like the track Kawawang Bata with Nothing Else. Poetically driven with strong lyrics. Following that is the track Soul Flower, is just a dream sounding beat. That's sweet.
And you have to hear Red's mix on Wu Tang's C.R.E.A.M. he made the creepy sounding classic sound like a breeze, making me feel that chasing it is a breeze.
So if i ruled the world? I'd tell you to...

Download Volume 2 as well. It's a mix of more of his original beats and earlier productions from 2004 to 2005.
A mix tape is a long straight track with song connected to each other, that's why i suggest you listen through the whole thing to experience Red I's all original beats from a few years back.

"To look backward for a while is to refresh the eye, to restore it, and to render it the more fit for its prime function of looking forward."

Keep It Simple Stupid.

I think people now a days, tend to forget that to send a real message they don't have to be so elaborate or extravagant or aggressive with it. The best way to send a message and for some one to internalize the message is to keep it simple. Because sometimes the simplest of most efforts have the biggest impacts.

Music video for Little Dragon. And it acts as a pilot for a short film called "Dreams from the Woods". Dreams From The Woods is a shadow puppet theater featuring the little girl, the big bird and the skeleton. The short film is a minimal yet beautiful display and play of light and shadows.

Directed by Johannes Nyholm.

Puppet Masters: Yukimi Nagano, Håkan Wirenstrand, Fredrik Källgren Wallin, Erik Bodin, Elias Araya, Aime Hellrand, Henrik Malmgren, Andreas Korsár and Kurt Lightner.

The Strokes is one of my favorite bands. I don't believe they've ever come out with a weak album. Whenever they come out with one, the whole album is solid. There are very few bands that exist today with that kind of edge. I wonder when the next one is coming out?

AND THE WINNER IS

The people have spoken and I have chosen.

And the winner is:

Juan Guevarra a.k.a. Jumbo!

When this late entry came in, and as the picture slowly downloaded...My jaw dropped when I saw the final piece. This was it, i said. Nice touch on the background and the effects on the eyes as well. and I like the addition of the police hat. Good job Jumbo... you pulled it off well. (insert applause)

And for some reason, the image made me remember this song

Congratulations. Email me your size and you can claim your price next week!

To all those who joined, thank you...try again next time!

TRILOGY - The Boat She Rocks

Trilogy Botique is a place run by pirates. No , not the chauvinist arrrrr matey i was born to pillage and people will respect me types... No. It's run by women. Women, who are ready to sail the seas and arrive to their horizons with a clear vision, aiming, locking it down with discipline and firing at it. This is good for any retail store, the fact that the members of the staff are hungry, organized , and competitive... Hence.. Pirates. Women pirates. You may call me a feminist , i would not mind. I just like the picture of intelligent women running a tight ship. Trilogy Boutique caters to both men women, nerds, geeks ,skaters , non skaters and foodies. Basically it serves lifestyle.

Then there is Canteen which is located literally beside Trilogy, a place i visit every so often for that little nudge of comfort food. It was a pseudo stress full day today, so i decided to cool my head with a serving of Choc - nut ice cream... I figured that I was a virgin to it's notoriously delicious sentiments that I thought, this would be the perfect day to have it melt inside my mouth. And as i carelessly dumped that spoonful unto my taste buds all i could say was.. legend.

I saw gems. I passed by to visit and was glad to see new books and art compilations from my favorite people. Namely : Shepard Fairey , Upper Playgroud , Tilt , Works by Mike Giant and Kevin Lyons and not to mention Jeremy Fish. If you don't know who these people are , then google it. They are huge, inspiring and just simply the best at what they do. To see these people's works, or at least their books, in this country was something refreshing to me. I don't need to go to Hong-Kong or order online anymore to be inspired. The books I've been looking for are finally here.

If you plan to lighten up your day, and spoil yourself silly... you might just want to jump unto this ship that is rocked by the women.
